What do Kurt Vonnegut, Thelonious Monk, and Latin American folk music have in common? All find their way into the music of New York-based pianist, composer, and educator Jason Yeager. An adroit and sensitive accompanist as well as an imaginative soloist and bandleader, Jason has released eight critically acclaimed albums of original music, including most recently Sanctuary (Sunnyside Records), a collaborative effort with jazz violin virtuoso Jason Anick. Later this year he will release Little Crow, produced in collaboration with guitarist Justin Poindexter, and featuring jazz legends Steve Little and Bill Crow.

Other recent albums include Hand in Hand (Club 44 Records) with spouse and Broadway star Julie Benko, and Unstuck in Time: the Kurt Vonnegut Suite (Sunnyside) with his eponymous septet and special guest Miguel Zenón. Yeager’s music has been featured by such outlets as Downbeat, Jazz Times, The New York Times, WQXR, and WBGO.

Jason has performed across five continents, at such storied venues as Carnegie Hall, Birdland, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and on Broadway. In addition to his work as a bandleader, Yeager has played on 50 additional recordings and performed with such luminaries as Sean Jones, Jason Palmer, Ran Blake, Luciana Souza, George Garzone, Matt Wilson, and Noah Preminger.

An honors graduate of the Tufts University/New England Conservatory Double Degree Program and the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, Jason currently teaches at Berklee College of Music and MIT.
