Live music is back on stage at The Mad Monkfish! For those who can't make it to the Jazz Baroness Room, Monkfish now streams live all of its performances on their Facebook page. House band plays a set and then invites guests to sit in on this late-night instrumentals jam.

The Yoshimura Brothers

Gen Yoshimura is a drummer/composer/educator from Japan. He moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music (BM) and Longy School of Music at Bard College (MM), and has lived there ever since. Gen is a versatile musician proficient in many genres including a wide array of Latin styles, jazz, fusion, and pop.

Throughout his musical career, he has been given opportunities to share the stage with several internationally acclaimed artists including Fernando Huergo, Walter Smith, Kris Davis, John Lockwood, Oscar Stagnaro, Rick Dimuzio, Daniel Ian Smith, Nate Radley, Ernesto Diaz, Manolo Mairena, Gonzalo Grau, Rebecca Cline, Gilson Schachnik, Yulia Musayelyan, Jim Kelly, Fernando Brandao, Maxim Lubarsky, Fabiola Mendez, Eduardo Betancourt, Andy Voelker, Matt Jenson, Doug Olsen, Alexei Tsiganov, Angel Subero, Zahili Zamora, Fryderyk HD, SONMASS, Bruno Raberg Tentet, Allan Chase Quartet, Leo Blanco Trio, La Pura Vida, Santiago Bosch Trio, Pritesh Walia Trio, and many others.


Sen Yoshimura is a saxophonist and composer from Japan. His musical journey began at the age of six when he first started learning the saxophone.

In 2020, Sen received a full scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music. During his first year at Berklee, he performed in the “Berklee Long Winded 2, A Celebration of Diversity in the Woodwind Department” to represent the Berklee Woodwind Department as a featured alto saxophonist, performing alongside the Edmar Colón Group.

In May 2023, Sen launched his own band and released two singles. He led the production, composition, and arrangement of his debut single "A Year Later," featuring esteemed artists, including Grammy nominated saxophonist Edmar Colón and flutist Sarpay Özçağatay. Soon after, he released his second single "Same Destination" collaborating with multiple Grammy Awarded artists such as Luis Perdomo on drums.

In February 2024, he performed in the BGJI Big Band, alongside the featured artist Brian Blade, Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, David Gilmore, celebrating the 15th years anniversary of the continuous success of the institute. Sen has also performed with renowned saxophonist Miguel Zenón, showcasing repertoires from the influential contemporary jazz ensemble “SFJAZZ Collective.”
