Live music is back on stage at The Mad Monkfish! For those who can't make it to the Jazz Baroness Room, Monkfish now streams live all of its performances on their Facebook page

The Jazz Vocal Jam Session takes place the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month from 3pm-6pm. A featured vocalist will start each session before inviting other vocalists to join the house band. There will be a physical sign-up sheet which will be first come, first serve.

This week the featured singer will be Sonia Lo Giudice.



Sonia Lo Giudice began her musical journey at the age of four, studying voice and later piano. Over the years, she has attended numerous masterclasses with leading figures from the international pop and jazz scene, including Cheryl Porter, Barbara Cola, Beppe Vessicchio, Serena Brancale, Paola Folli, Daniela Spalletta, Fabrizio Bosso, Cettina Donato, Rosalba Bentivoglio, Danila Satragno, Shawn Monteiro and others.

In 2022, she was a semifinalist at Premio Lunezia and Una Voce per San Marino, and winner of the Feltrinelli contest Promuovi la tua musica with the pop project Out Offline, created together with her sister, pianist Zaira Lo Giudice.

In 2023, she graduated with highest honors (110/110 cum laude) in Jazz Singing from the “Corelli” Conservatory in Messina. That same year, she performed at the Sicilian Jazz Festival with the Lavica Jazz Quintet and reached the final of the Premio Nazionale delle Arti – Jazz Section 2023, ranking among the top three. She also performed with the Verdi Jazz Orchestra alongside Flavio Boltro and David Blamires.

In 2024, she won second prize at JazzDesignJazz (JazzMi), performing at the Teatro della Triennale in Milan with Enrico Intra, Tullio De Piscopo, and Enrico Rava. In the same year, she was a semifinalist at the Premio Isio Saba for innovation in jazz with an original project and was awarded a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music during the Umbria Jazz Clinics.

In July 2025, she completed both her Master’s Degree in Music, Culture, Media and Performance (LM-45) at the University of Milan and her Second-Level Academic Diploma in Jazz Singing at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Milan, graduating with highest honors. In December 2025, she performed at the Blue Note in Milan with the Sugarino Big Band.

In January 2026, she began her studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she studies and attends masterclasses with internationally renowned artists such as Victor Wooten, Steve Jordan, Lee Sklar, Jazzmeia Horn, and Kenny Werner. In March 2026, she performed at Dizzy’s Jazz Club in New York.

Alongside her performance activity, she is currently developing In Between, an original project rooted in her research on synesthesia, exploring the connections between sound, color/image, and emotional perception.

Starting from September 2026, she will be a Research Fellow in Music Sciences at NOVA University of Lisbon.
